Asphalt or concrete removal begins with on-site excavation of the subgrade. The existing material is then replaced with proper base materials that meet all current industry standards. Proper drainage is also factored into the leveling process before the subgrade is compacted. If an existing, paved asphalt surface requires rehabilitation, a common method is to apply what is called an 'overlay', in essence a fresh layer of asphalt over an existing surface. Generally less expensive than complete replacement, this technique may be slightly less durable but can last for many years with proper care. This bituminous makeover involves cleaning the existing pavement, formatting the edges of the space and repairing any major fissures, voids or damage. Once the new layer of asphalt is applied, the end result looks no different than a brand new job, and will prevent further deterioration of the original condition.

Quite often, "patching" implies simply filling a hole with appropriate material and calling it a day. This is not how we "roll!" Compromised areas of a driveway or parking lot are excised in their entirety, making the forthcoming patch integrity far superior to just applying a filler.
